BAML has a really strong consumer franchise, think they did the most deals in the past year from what an associate in the group told me
BAML and Barclays are the strongest out of those.
^ agree, great groups / interesting work. Sad that C&R isn’t seen as it use to be (slowly dying industry).
Consumer will always be fine. Retail is another story.
Thoughts on retail being replaced with e-commerce for C&R groups? With the entire industry moving digital, it would be interesting to know how much tech overlap these C&R groups will see from a deals perspective. Could there be a scenario where C&R does D2C and CPG stuff, while TMT groups focus on enterprise software.
At least in Europe Citi also has a strong C&R team, arguably on par with GS

Why do you say that?
Analyst at a top BB C&R group here. The top two groups for the past few years have been BofA and GS (neck and neck). A tier below is JPM and MS. Used to hear about Barclays C&R but seniors got poached by Evercore. Also, not a BB but Centerview is top top.
