BB Interview - Dinged Due to Internal Candidate?
Got an interview by dropping my resume online. Passed my phone screen with HR. They asked for my availability for an in-office interview but no response after 3 days. Just heard back that an internal candidate is interested in the position. They're interviewing this person first and they won't interview anyone else if they feel this person is the right fit.
What can I do in this situation? I'm very interested and I believe I'm the perfect fit for this niche role. Should I just reply politely and leave the process to HR? Would it be too aggressive to shoot the MD an email stating my interest? Would appreciate your thoughts.
There's not much you can do, most organizations will favor internal candidates over external one and many actually have procedures in place to facilitate that (which is what is happening to you).
You can always try to find out what the internal candidate is doing at the moment, there will be an opening there.
