BC or Georgetown or Lehigh
got into bc and georgetown, assuming admission to Lehigh
Which college has the best rep on the street?
Should I consider that Georgetown will be more competitive than the other two (more difficult in attaining a high GPA)?
Thanks for any input on this topic.
"Georgetown? I wouldn't let my maids' kids go there."
Phenomenal quote.
There are a few big time guys who went to Lehigh who now head specific industry/coverage groups at BBs. They love recruiting from Lehigh (namely BarCap and Citi). PWP and Miller Buckfire will generally take 1-2 Lehigh grads for interviews during recruiting.
I would take Georgetown. I think BC and Lehigh are interchangeable.
Georgetown is most prestigious. Although I cAn vouch for lehigh Jp recruits for am and s+t. Barcap for research and banking Baml for cap mkts and s+t. Guy at runs rates is an alum
That's all the front office recruiting
The alum network is extremely helpful though Know a kid that had multiple bb offers though he networked his ass off Proximity to. Ny is nice
definitely gtown for rep on the street and recruiting. no contest.
if you have serious trouble getting a high gpa at gtown, then you might want to rethink careers. gtown is not one of the more academically rigorous schools among those that are heavily targeted by banks.
if you're not naturally smart enough to pull easy As, then work harder and study more.
Gtown, I met quite a few Gtown alumn on the street
Georgetown.
Georgetown no question. Ton of Gtown kids at my BB this past summer in banking.
gtown easily
Gtown
Definitely Georgetown. Don't go to Lehigh, it sucks.
From the sounds of it, you got multiple interviews for front office positions with an average gpa, mediocre experience and no networking. It's not your schools fault that you did poorly at your interviews. Even if you were at a target, I'm not sure you would have done any better.
To the OP, Georgetown probably has the better name, but I've personally seen more people from BC at superdays. I may be a bit biased, but I wouldn't be so quick to discount Boston College.
I don't got to Lehigh idiot, this is what my friend told me. If you want do I-banking Lehigh isn't the greatest because they have almost no IB on-campus interviews.
right
Also future trader, Barcap does not recruit for Banking- Lehigh just posted that on their career services site, but there were no on campus interviews for that.
this one's pretty cut and dry in my mind, gtown>bc>lehigh
Georgetown
Georgetown by far, no question. Easily one of the most heavily recruited schools on the Street.
Georgetown and it's not close. BC has a good network though.
Ok I apologize if I offended anyone, I just meant that Georgetown will have better recruiting. Feel free to pick the school that most interests you.
Georgetown is the best choice. Georgetown is very well recruited by the Street, but there are some firms that don't come there - namely elite boutiques (exception: Perella Weinberg). All the BBs recruit there and the business school is really easy (so don't have GPA concerns if that's the school you'll be applying to) so kids place well, but more into IBD than S&T (e.g., there were ~9-10 Hoyas in this year's MS IBD class, and ~3 elsewhere in the firm).
vcu > gtown
actually
VCU > Georgetown > Marquette > West Virginia > Vanderbilt > USC > Texas > Colorado > Okla St. > Harvard (> Boston College)

Interesting topic.
Georgetown is the more prestigious school of the three. But that's mostly due to its School of Foreign Service.
At the business school level, Georgetown and Boston College are pretty comparable (both are good but neither is excellent), especially when it comes to OCR (gtown may have a bit more bite in NY, but BC has stronger networks in Boston, of course).
I went to one of these schools and a sibling went to the other one. had a cousin who went to Lehigh...all I can say is Bethlehem, PA. Needless to say, he's got a good consulting gig.
The north side is quite nice.
Went to lehigh and never really felt held back. OCR was rather limited, but a lot of random opportunities seemed to pop up (mostly emails from alumni asking for resumes to fill up a last minute super day slot).
Barcap (Research, IBD), JPM (S&t, IBD) , MS(BRM), Citi (IBD), BOA (IBD/S&T) took a few people from my year. It's possible that there were others as well.
I definitely wouldn't take it over Georgetown, but I wouldn't say it sucks.
