Benchmarking Meal Allowances by Firm

Recently changed firms and my new firm’s meal allowance policy is a bit more generous than my old firm’s (ex. $35 vs. 25 for weeknights). Was curious what the policies were across the street ($$, time restrictions, weekend policies, etc.). Looking forward to seeing people’s responses.

CVP breakfast provided and lunch catered. Generous dinner allowance but can’t recall the numbers.

25 weekdays, 45 weekends. Can expense anytime no one cares. I personally haven't worked a weekend in 3 months but still get lunch and dinner free at UBS on weekends

Damn that's pretty damn good. Don't know too many banks that comp for lunch. It's usually just for dinner right?

Roommate at Barclays gets $25, has to wait until 6:30 to order but 'has to know they're working until 9'. Here's what shocked me.If you are working in the office (M/T/Th) and go home at any point before 9, you're NOT supposed to order from home. Even if you leave at 7 and continue working. So they want you in the office until 9 if you're ordering food. WTF?Draconian policies.

Max 4 for the whole week for WFH. It's everyday including weekends if you go into the office.

HL: $40 a night Mon-Fri and Sunday after 6pm. $20 for lunch on Sundays.

Piper Sandler: Lunch is catered and you get a $30 dinner stipend and Uber home if you work past 9:00. Nobody gives a shit though and people will order dinner at 7:00 and then leave when it gets there if they can.

I indeed found out the hard way that all the Dan's Wings and Sushi I ordered through Seamless to my apartment during WFH was not in fact reimbursable.

This is all first hand or close friend:

BAML: $35 weekday with $20 “late night snack credit”, $70 weekend, free acai bowls in office

BMO: $35 weekday, $70 weekend

FT Partners: $35 weekday, $70 weekend, also heard food on the firm anytime a more senior member takes a more junior member out for dinner, like associate with analyst

RBC: $25 weekday $50 weekend

Barclays: same as RBC

Wells: Same as RBC (might’ve bumped since)

Wrong about FT Partners.

Buddy of mine recently did an internship there.

Lunch is catered M-F ($~17) and for dinner you get $25 if you work past 9pm.

Weekends is $10 (lol) if you work 6 hours and $25 if you work 12 hours (you will).

Uber was like $20 if you stay past 9pm.

As an aside, place was a total sweatshop (heard the same from SF and London).
