Best Banking Group If You Don't like M&A and Prefer Financial Instruments
Basically the title. Currently an Associate at an EB, and truth be told, I'm kind of bored of M&A. I know you go to a EB to do M&A everyday, but that's probably why I'm bored of it. I personally enjoy learning / working with financial instruments a lot more than merging two companies lol. Is structured finance the best place to be? Maybe ECM / DCM? I know you don't do a lot of modelling in those groups so maybe not ideal, but I find equity / debt more interesting. I feel like I'd actually have the motivation to read the news and keep up with market trends.
What's the best place to be if you're kind of tired of M&A. Would love to hear some experiences.
If you want more emphasis on securities would recommend an ABS group, especially one that handles more esoteric products. DCM/ECM can get pretty monotonous quick, though if you moved to DCM syndications you could eventually pivot to fixed income S&T
