Best Business Drama! Check it out!

Hi fellow monkeys,

This is the best business drama series I have watched thus far. Even though it is in Korean (I'm not a Korean), the series has English subtitles which is 70-90% accurate, depending on the translator.

I would encourage anyone who is interested in M&A to watch this drama, since it is one of the few shows around which actually employs plenty of financial jargon and concepts in the drama, e.g. greenmail, stock manipulation, 'concert parties' etc. Personally, I have watched this series three times over.

Here is the synopsis: The background of the drama is about life in the mergers & acquisitions, stock market and financial world, as well as the lives of chaebols. Kim Do Hyun is an intelligent man from a modest upbringing. He is the head of his class at one of the top tier law schools in the country. While looking for prospective jobs, he is recruited to be the attorney for an affluent family who's true wealth may be more than anyone could imagine. His dreams of a peaceful life with his girlfriend Lee Jung Yun are changed when the future successor "makes him an offer he can't refuse."

Hope you will enjoy the series as much as I did! Cheers :)

Vectors225watched this being a korean myself....sorry to disagree but it's really shitty and cheesy as fuck. couldn't force myself to finish the series

Which parts of the series made you feel that way? Maybe it's because I've yet to enter college yet (next fall since I'm serving national service), that's why I found the general themes interesting. Besides the classic films like 'Barbarians at the Gate', there aren't that many shows about M&A in general.

Because it would probably be a pretty boring show.

The show "Suits" tried to do this from a corporate law perspective. While the characters were kind of interesting, I couldn't get past how laughable it was to have two lawyers doing asbestos litigation one episode and negotiating an M&A deal the next.

The challenge is that any show about any white-collar profession has to bend reality in order to be exciting enough to keep people interested and keep churning out plot lines, and simplified enough that laypeople can understand it. How many doctors or med students do you know who enjoy "House" or "Grey's Anatomy" (though that may just be because Grey's Anatomy is awful)? Mad Men may be an exception because it's set in the distant past.

I would hate watching an office drama about finance because it would either be boring as shit or it'd be completely nonsensical. Hell, the hedge fund manager character in "How to Make it in America" is on screen about 30 seconds an episode and they can't even keep him both interesting AND realistic.

There have been many great comebacks throughout history. Jesus was dead but then came back as an all-powerful God-Zombie.

How to Make it in America is disappointing so far this season....sucks....after the first season it seemed like the show had so much potential. =/ Oh well, at least the main character's ex has a superb rack.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
