Best course to break into IB from here…

Hi Everyone,

Graduate in May 2023 from Finance undergrad, 3.9 @ non-target w a strong resume (president..co founder…all that stuff), interned/accepted FT offer from big tech (Silicon Valley) as a Financial analyst doing mildly transferable work (Sept 2023 start). Big name recognition but not what i ultimately want to do.

I have been recruiting for SA and FT Investment Banking for June 2023 starts with me being very willing to Reneg my full time job. I have gotten myself to a few super days but nothing has panned out thus far - but i have built a strong network.

Here are my options moving forward:

  1. Continue recruiting for Full Time Analyst roles for June 2023 start and reneg right away
  2. Recruit for Summer 2023 with firm knowing I will work FT for 9 months (treat it as a 5th year, except i get paid) and then start FT in June 2024.
  3. (Near-Lateral Approach) Postpone hard recruiting now, opt to start FT in June 2023 at tech firm and then re-recruit “next” cycle to take advantage of different market for their ‘June 2024 Full Time Analyst’ roles

Ultimately I want to avoid any 5th year or bs Masters program - i have gotten pretty far with the leads i have established and know technicals quite well at this point, etc.

If anyone has any thoughts or insights for the best course of action it would be much appreciated as i am sure many know how consuming & sometimes exhausting this process can be. Thanks
