The prototypical Midwestern M&A shop is Lazard Middle Market (formerly Goldsmith-Agio-Helms)
Take a look at Stifel Nicholaus (Weisel), and Robert W. Baird as well
I go to school in the midwest. Here's a few: William Blair, Lincoln International, Sagent Advisors
There are definitely others but these are off the top of my head.
Just for clarification, Baird, Blair and Sagent are not lower middle market but upper middle market focused. And I say this from experience.
