Finimize is a daily newsletter that explains a few market events in non-finance jargon. It's helpful in gaining an understanding of some highlights and explains the importance as well.

Morning Brew is another daily newsletter which has a few more topics covered and is a little more technical. It also lists where the market indices closed the previous day.

If you are interested in Tech, there is a newsletter form Fortune called Term Sheet that discusses a few tech highlights, fundings, and acquisitions.

While things like WSJ/SeekingAlpha are great for staying in the loop, they might be tougher to than these and it may be hard to find exactly where to start.
