Big 4 M&A vs Rx Consulting?

Potentially going to have two offers soon (both London based) 1) Big 4 M&A team (not FDD but actual M&A advisory) and 2) Rx Consulting (A&M/Alix/FTI). Both are similar seniority, not too sure on comp but I'd assume Rx will pay more.

If you were in my position which of the two would you choose from a comp, wlb, exit ops and general culture perspective?

If it’s A&M they will pay significantly more due to their bonus structure. I think bonus = 25% of total billable - base comp.

So if you bill $1,000,000 total comp is basically 250k and I think it scales as you get more senior. Also I think it is uncapped.

I would say RX consulting exits are RX IB (and then whatever you do after) and operating roles in PE (I know platinum equity hires a lot of operators from A&M). Big 4 is M&A IB and maybe LMM PE.

You will travel a lot more in RX consulting.

Appreciate the insight, have heard this about the bonus structure in A&M. Do you know if this is just a US thing or the same applies here in the UK?
