Biomedical Engineering to High Finance (IB/PE/HF)

Hello all,

I am a new graduate from a Top 10 undergrad engineering school with a biomedical engineering + premed degree currently working full time for a F100 medtech company. I somewhat enjoy my job, but engineering was never really my passion, and I cannot see myself continuing with this for the years to come. I have always had an interest in finance/business, having done a consulting internship at a small firm, and have a number of friends in high finance with careers that interest me greatly.

I am considering taking the CFA or attempting to get an MBA (although the CFA would be quicker, despite its obvious challenges) to attempt to break into IB/PE/HF. I am curious if anyone has a similar background that could offer some advice for transitioning to high finance post graduation?
