Bonus Ballpark for Budget/Expenses
Hello--
I am sure there is a thread on this but I couldn't find anything recent. I understand how bonuses fluctuate based on performance and firm and desk. I will be a 1st year analyst starting in July, and I am looking to budget for rent and expense of living.
I can't ask my network about bonus numbers because that wouldn't be kosher, so I refer to WSO.
Can anyone ballpark bonus $value or % for American BBs for 1st year analyst next year? Or is this impossible to predict?

Budget off of your base. You'll be paying your rent and living expenses with your base - so no reason to factor bonus there.

It's never wise to budget off of variable income. Treat your bonus as what it is, a bonus.

It will obviously vary based on your specific firm / group and market conditions this year. Bonuses shouldn’t be a factor for your budget.
