Botique IB vs Research Firm. Advice Please
I am looking to get some advice from people that are actually in the industry. I have an offer from a small research company for a summer internship and its paid. I also have an offer from a small boutique investment bank about 20 min from my home. The only bad part is that its unpaid.
I want to get into IB and currently don't have an notable internship. I am a first year MBA student at a fairly good school (not top tier), is the unpaid internship worth doing to learn a lot about IB or take paid internship that is in research not IB, and try to network my way in to IB with a paid internship later. Hoping to get full-time IB offer later after graduation. Looking for some advice
If you want to work in IB, you should take the IB internship. Unless you cannot afford to work for free, it would make no sense to take the research internship.
The boutique IB doesn't guarantee a full time offer after, realistically it probably wont but it'll be good experience and good on my resume. I am worried about the process afterwards and the process of getting a full time IB job. Where do I look? where do I apply? I don't know anyone personally in IB to network with
