Boutique IB vs Big 4 Advisory
The Big 4 consulting role is in financial services and the Boutique IB role is pretty small, I think 40+ employees w 25M+ in revenue.
My goal is to start my own business (think similar to owning a chain of gyms), Weighing a few variables (not in order):
1. Time I’ll have to work on it outside of work
2. The salary (amount I’ll be able to invest and retain equity- 1 location will cost north of 200K)
3. Useful Skills learned
4. Investor perception and future connections
Not looking for concrete answers, more of criticism if I’m thinking about this the right way.
Anecdote - Have a mentor who went to a boutique of similar size and revenue. Put the business (car wash chain) on backburner until he made VP. Seems pretty successful now.
