Breaking Into Investment Banking from Valuations at 25 - Worth It?

Current situation:
I’m currently in my second valuation role at a strong firm. I relocated to a top-tier city for this job, with the goal of eventually transitioning into investment banking.

The opportunity:
I now have an offer from a smaller but highly reputable FIG-focused shop. I’ve seen some peers from my seat make bigger jumps, but at this stage, I’d rather not wait until I’m 26 to finally land an IB analyst role.

Question:
Has anyone made a similar move or have thoughts on taking this kind of step?

did a pretty similar move from HL/lincoln Val SA to mm FIG ft, lateraled to EB FIG after a year.

I think in this market just take it and recruit for a bigger step. FIG is pretty specialized and there are many boutique FIG shops respected by the large banks so once you’re in the space you’ll find it a lot easier to move around. It’s also a very hot space right now so you’ll have no trouble lateraling to a bigger bank if that’s your main concern
