Brown Brohters Harriman NY IBD
Can anyone chime in on culture/pay a BBH M&A/PE? I know its an old company, looks like analysts get a great experience and move onto the PE/VC world or bschool.
Not a lot of info. on culture, hours, pay on here. Would greatly appreciate any info.
Second this: I think BBH seems pretty cool because of it's legacy.

Prescott Bush....no doubt. They have a solid FX desk. Someone else can comment on IBD.
From the info I gleaned from older posts pertaining to the subject, BBH is one of the most blue-blooded banks on the street, and I doubt that's changed much from when those threads were posted. They manage the Skull and Bones account, so that right there speaks volumes.
When you said Prescott Bush in combination with finance, I had to change my pants.

There are a lot of people at BBH, including a solid chunk of the partners, who have never worked at another firm in their lives. Now I'm sure it's a great place to work, but I imagine it is not as dynamic or intense as other firms, even their M&A group. Pay is somewhat below street, but you have better security (BBH isn't as exposed to market cycles as most), and they'll promote you straight up to associate and beyond - if they like you. They also have a large proprietary equity investment operation, including PE, as well as PIPEs and so forth, and this is where their stronger analysts (who choose to stay) tend to go. From what I understand, they do place fairly well into bschools, and their name is still respected on the street, even though they've faded into the middle market in more recent years. Their clients tend to be very loyal, and the bank devotes itself to cultivating and maintaining generational relationships.
One of the last true blue blood, white shoe firms on the Street. Quintessentially WASPy, very obsessed with heritage and impression and longstanding relationships. A very loyal culture, full of "good ol' boys," the elite Northern prep and fraternity and Ivy men.
