Buyside to Cushy MM IB

Curious to hear any perspectives here - 2nd year ASO at an UMM PE shop. Realized I don't really care about the work to justify the stress/hours, and also that I definitely don't care enough to actually get promoted (everyone who is promoted to SA/VP here is basically an insane psychopath).

Is it crazy to try and move to a lifestyle MM IB shop? I'm still getting paid a discount to IB so my pay would actually go up, and I'm pretty sure I could semi-cost to at least VP3 given the easier type of work. Goal is to clip paycheck for as long as possible then eventually join an early stage startup or co-found one. My shop also invests in industrials/manufacturing/business services and I'm interested in moving to tech.

My thought process is that over next 5-7 years I'll make more money, be way less stressed, work less, and have a relatively easy path to promotion until something I actually want to do pops up.

And on that note, anyone know of any groups like this? As long as TC is $300+ I'm pretty content.

I work at a MM in tech and with a relatively good WLB as an associate. It's office dependent but my office is closer to a "lifestyle" gig than sweaty. It's great. Obviously going to be stretches where it's a grind but it's better than most places. Plan to ride it out through VP to collect the paycheck and go do something more chill after.

For comp reference, last year as an AS1 (175K base) I got $315K all in

How easy is it to coast to VP? My problem with PE is that getting promoted basically requires you to fully buy-in to the job and spend enormous mental energy/time on getting that promotion, and my long-term interests are more entrepreneurial. And of course, if you're not planning on staying in PE long-term to partner you're just getting paid less to work more/harder vs. IB
