BYU vs Washington and Lee

Hi Everyone,

I aim to break into IB or PE as a non-US citizen. I'm currently applying to universities in undergrad and due to the limit of universities imposed by my school, I'm compelled to choose between BYU and Washington and Lee. I realise they're somewhat different schools with very different acceptance rates, but I only care about chances of breaking into IB/PE

Any advice on which uni to choose would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you married? BYU's honor code is tough if you aren't LDS and aren't married.  Seriously consider this.  I met a the parents of a guy who nearly got expelled because he was camping in a blizzard and someone saw him share an emergency snow cave with a girl he'd known since they were 5, who was practically his sister.

Not sure about BYU, but I can say that W&L places very well into east coast MM IB shops (HL, WF, HW), not so much BB or EB, although they do place a 2-3 a year into BBs. The alumni network is the main selling factor; W&L alumni go to bat for each other more so than most other colleges, and there are a surprising number of W&L alumni in IB. If you look at IB placement rates relative to their undergrad population, they are surprisingly competitive, as there aren’t 400 students all competing for the same job. W&L is overwhelmingly Greek though, which can either be a pro or a con depending on what you are looking for. They also have one of the biggest student run investment funds in the country (Williams Investment Society) which is very competitive and places very consistently into IB, though many outside the fund secure good IB jobs.
