Can you invest in the stock of a company you work with?
I work in commercial banking at a large regional bank. We recently closed on a large debt facility for a publicly-traded client. They did not provide us complete FYE financials (but obviously did give a considerable amount of financial info) when we put together the credit package.
Their earnings call is coming up; I'm not barred from investing in their stock, am I?
If you have to ask, just don't do it. I don't know, if it's illegal, but it's ABSOLUTELY a red flag. People get investigated for those red flags.
It really depends. If that info is public then it's fair game. If that's an internal thing that people outside don't know and can't find out except from company employees, you'd absolutely be insider trading. To second @James-Owens, it's definitely a red flag and if you have to ask, you're already teetering an ethical line. Most firms prohibit trading their own company stock for this reason.
