Interned at a boutique during my 3rd year of university. We did a lot of bought deals/private placements and IPO's. Got me thinking...
Can you make obscene wealth in IB by co-investing alongside the firm and acquiring shares in a bought deal/private placement or pre-IPO shares?
Has anyone done this and made big $$? Is there a way to make Big money in IB? (I'm talking multiple 100K's/Milly's as a Junior - Associate to VP level)
You're thinking of private equity/VC - yes, you can co-invest and usually earn carry (a small % ownership) as part of your bonus. IB firms do not invest in the business, just acts as advisor. The way to make money in IB is to make MD and advise on these big deals you're talking about
