Lateral wise heard its not hard. Most people get asked many just didnt wanted to go. BBs are more chill in Toronto than Big 5.

Can lateral from a good group like RBC / BMO M&A, but tough from a CIBC ECM if that makes sense. Past 2 years was easy given hiring spree, but normalized environment is still competitive if you’re going for a EB / BB since you’re also competing with U.S analysts with similar ambitions and visa complications of course. You also give up a year or in some cases, even 2.
Thankfully I’m dual citizen but yeah currently have an offer for a Canadian BB for analyst role. Tough situation because I don’t have many offers or let alone interviews in the states since I did undergrad in engineering.
