Instead, I see all the boutique i bankers try to come to Big Fives.

Plus, I don't think the claim that GMP is the most profitable I bank in Canada is legit..

 

Genuity is considered boutique, i'm pretty damn sure they pay more than all Canadian BB's. They do work you significantly harder though.

 

GMP has some of the highest paid traders, research analysts, and bankers on the street. They make a lot of money financing oil & gas companies. You can't compare these guys to other boutiques. As an analyst, I'd rather start at a big-5 or Genuity. However, GMP is a great place for S&T/Research, and for senior bankers with connections in O&G.

I agree with the comment on Genuity. The lifestyle at CIBC/RBC M&A is just as rough.

 

Some boutiques do pay more than the big 5 (not significantly at the junior level). Also, I don't think anyone at a Canadian boutique works harder than at the bank-owned dealers...
