Chances of Breaking in and Advice

Been around wso for a year or so but this is my first post asking for advice. Trying to break into IB but got started on the finance track late. From Canada, came to the US to play d1 hockey at non target state school. Was naive and choose the school for hockey to try and play professionally. Had a 3.8gpa undergrad in finance and passed my CFA level 1 in december. Have pretty limited internship experience as hockey was the first priority. Got injured senior year pretty bad and had to retire. Enrolled in the MSF program at the school and currently working full time on CPT at a boutique consulting firm while taking the classes at night. School is in the NYC area so good for networking, is there any chance I can break into IB even without internship experience and having the sponsorship issues? Any advice on how to go about breaking in and networking? Thanks guys!
