Check this out...

Hey, I have some free space in my college scheduling. I'm not graduating early so I have 3 spots for 3 classes that I can take totally randomly and that don't have anything to do with my Finance Major.

The Dilema: I can use those 3 spots for 3 accounting classes and get an accounting minor. Or I can fuck around with other stuff I would like much better (like computer programming) but not get any degrees or minors out of it.

Accounting Minor I thought would be worth the sacrifice of absolute boredom to have it on my resume. But how good would it look? is it even worth it?

Yea, I'm the same position as you are, with basically enough free coursework to pick up a minor, though with no plans to do so.

Unless you really like the subject, I wouldn't do a minor just to have it on your resume. IMO, minors aren't that impressive, congrats, you took an extra 3 classes. Especially in your case, since (I'm assuming) you are a finance major.

If you get a minor in something, for the most part, no-one will care. Perhaps one exception is if you happened to major in something random (i.e. Spanish) and want to pick up a relevant minor like economics or accounting.

I would suggest taking up the accounting courses. All the recruiters I have spoken to say that you should take as many accounting classes as you can. They want to see a strong accounting background. That's why I'm doing an accounting major on top of a finance one.

minors don't add much value to a resume.

If you a see a person with a like 5 different things under majors and minors they come across as not knowing what the hell they want to do.

It's best to keep things simple with one major or perhaps double major if you really want to.
