Checking Disability on Job Applications Beneficial?
I have been diagnosed with ADHD since I was young. May also have some mild TISM, but doesn't really matter. It seems pretty normal to have either in finance.
Accordingly, feel free to give me shit for this question.
Historically I have never checked the "I have a disability box" because I've never really thought I needed to and have always felt that it was frivolous to do so.
As I am a rationally self-interested, given the DEI push by a lot of firms, is it at all beneficial to check that box for roles in banking and outside of it.
Would HR give my profile another look if I did check that box?
No these are just for federal classification purposes and if HR needs to make accommodations for you to interview.
The DEI "benefit" comes through specialized recruiting pipelines. I think GS is the only one that has a disability pipeline "Diverse Abilities"
Sure is, promotes diversity in an organization. We can’t all have 4 limbs some need to have only 3, 2 or 1. Our differences is what empowers us to move forward
only being black or female helps materially, everything else is just there under the umbrella of being "inclusive"
