connect at PE firm to put me in touch with network

I have a senior connect (wide industry experience, tenure in industry, influence at firm, etc.) at a decent MM PE firm that says they'll put me in touch with some people around the industry. Now, I have basically no banking experience, so I'm only hoping to talk to connects at investment banks and really at any level.

But they've also said this very vaguely and have given me no direct language about who or timing. What could be the holdup? I followed-up and they simply said, they've been busy and will get back in touch once they reach out to their network. It hasn't been that long as the last we spoke was last week. But, they were also supposed to put me in touch a few months ago before I reached back out a couple of weeks ago.

Is it just my resume and their network is ignoring my resume and they don't want to let me down so hard, rather with a soft going cold? Mind, we share similar network because of university and have met face to face.
