Consulting to IB - > worth it?

Currently a manager at T2 Strategy firm focused on M&A, got an offer at a MM IB as an A, whole point behind the move is to get a bump in exit opportunities (Corporate strat is not on my list of interesting exits) and finding it more challenging to move to a fund directly from cons. Few questions as follows:

1) Is it the right move? (will get plenty of exist based on conv. i've had with people at the company)

2) Step back to push forward? i don't want to stagnate at As level, after i've tasted leading.. how does it translate into effective plan for a quick promotion?

thanks for insights
