Contact Etiquette
I recently applied for an analyst position at a hedge fund over my school's career site. I noticed that the actually included the phone number of the contact who I had emailed my resume to and was wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to call this person directly. Also, what do I say to him aside from the fact that I am interested in the position.
dont call
.
if you dont know what to say, no need to call just for calling sake. Your CV and letter should show your interest in the job.
But if you think will have you stand out go for it, but seeing has he might get a load of students calling everyday he might not give a damn and could be what helps him reduce the amount of CV's he has to go through.
I'd recommend not calling as well. At this point, there is not much that can do for you. Once they get back to you and you know they are interested in you, work it. I don't think your resume will stand out more, "just" because you called.
By calling someone at this firm? I've been trying to think of ways to call and stand out, but I can't imagine what I could say beyond the fac tthat I really want to show my interest/interview at the firm
