Contact Staffer/Line Manager before the internship - do or do not?

Hi fellow monkeys,

Incoming SA here. Just got a welcome email from the HR cc-ing staffers/buddy/mentor. The good thing is that I have contacted the buddy before, so I will just email him to say hi. For the mentor, I'm emailing him/her to do a self introduction, in case he/she hasn't read my resume yet.

so I have a stupid question to ask: is it appropriate to email the staffers (>2 of them) individually or collectively? Is this expected from an incoming SA?

I just don't want to leave a rude first impression. Thanks!

Email your staffers to get your name out there and show you can over communicate. That's literally the biggest job an SA has.

Sure, you can put them in the same email. Just write a couple of sentences about how you finished training and are excited to start in the office. Imo, if you're going to send the exact same email to them separately....might as well just lump it together. Send separate email if it is more than 3 people if you want (but I don't think anyone would really care).

Definitely try to schedule coffee asap with your senior mentor though.
