Cornell Hotel Administration or University of Miami for IB ?

Current freshman at University of Miami currently in Target Canes and TAMID groups but have the opportunity to transfer to Cornell Hotel Administration through a transfer option after my freshman year. I understand the prestige of Cornell on resume but also feel that grinding UM could possibly open same doors for IB/AM/PWM. Would love to get opinion of WSO members on the opinion of each and what they would do. Thanks !

I go to another non-target and landed at an EB. If you grind hard enough, you can be competitive for any seat. However, your life will be much harder at UMiami than at Cornell. If you are serious about IB and cost isn't an issue, I would recommend transferring.

I went to Cornell although I was in Dyson (undergraduate business program), and I will say that Cornell's Hotel program is an aboslute feeder for IB recruitment as well. Would highly recommend you transfer to Cornell as the way recruitment works for Cornell is that all the banks recruit across all internal colleges / programs. i.e., Students that are in Dyson or Hotel or Econ or whatever major will have an equal shot at getting in front of banks during recruitment.

Cornell ILR alum.

The ILR school is probably a bigger target than UMiami and many many other schools alone. Typically have 40-50 out of each graduating class in IB (200 total students each grade of which maybe 60-70 want to do IB). Even more in AM/WM, consulting. Won't go wrong with Cornell but obviously still doable from Miami.

Think of it as a slightly less good version of Wharton vs Penn. And yes, I know this will upset the Cornell alums here, but it is objectively true. Still a very good school but not a hyper-target. Opportunities at any college of Cornell will surpass Miami, especially Hotel / Dyson.

It'll also be easier to get a high freshman gpa for recruiting sophomore spring
