Corp Dev Lateral Vs Keep Networking

Hi,

I recently got an offer for an acquisitive company in a corp-dev role. The corp-dev role focuses on the specific industry I have a background in and am interested in pursuing in the long term. However, I would prefer to do banking first before joining corp-dev if possible.

I have 2 VC internships (a few transactions), good grades, top internships, and recently graduated. I do not have any IB internships or experience. Since it is off-cycle, I am considering taking the offer. Would it be better to take the offer and try to lateral or to roll the dice and wait till FT recruiting for IB kicks off again?

I am interested in pursuing growth equity or PE in the long term.

Thanks in advance.
