Couldn't get an SA this summer, what to do?

What other positions should I be looking at that would allow a transition into banking later on?

And is it too late to coldcall boutiques/MMs, and if not, are there any good resources I could read on that?

I'm technically a junior but it looks like I'll be graduating fall '12 instead of spring '12 so I'll have another summer to potentially get something.

3.4 gpa, non-target private in the northeast (some alumni at BBs, not many at boutiques from what I've seen)

It is nowhere near too late to cold call boutiques - not elite boutiques - I mean small IB boutiques. They are always looking for interns, especially unpaid - and now is when they will start thinking about summer help if they see their pipeline growing.

Beyond IB, think boutique PE, consulting, corp dev, anything with analytical work will be at least somewhat helpful. Here's an article that will help as well
