Cover Letter Question - Medical student graduating in 2012
I am a medical student graduating in 2012 apply for I-banking, My goal is to eventually enter healthcare PE or VC.
If I am turning in a cover letter to an i-bank, should I mention that I eventually want to enter healthcare PE? If I did not have an MD, I would not bother mentioning that, but I thought maybe it would give an explanation as to how my MD could be applicable.
Not in the industry, but from having talked to people who are, I'd recommend not specifically mentioning that you are already looking to go to PE/VC. You could say instead that you want to do Healthcare IB though....
I'm curious. What made you want to change paths after going through all that?
Any other opinions?
Honestly, your cover letter has little to do with anything. I would say something about how your eventual goal is to work in Healthcare PE/VC and that IB is a great route to get there. Or say that you want to work directly in Healthcare banking because of your experience and knowledge of the field. All in all, it's not going to make or break you.
If I display interest in healthcare banking, would that narrow the number of positions I could work at? Am I just better off not mentioning anything at all? I know you say its not a big deal either way, so its probs much ado about nothing.
