I know Cowen acquired Quarton Partners who are based in Detroit awhile ago. Got invited to a first round and am wondering if I'd be crazy to consider working in Detroit. Any insight into Cowen's Det unit or working/living in the area?

Have my first round tomorrow. Heard from a couple of UMich buddies that Birmingham is a very upscale suburb/financial district. I'm sure COL is significantly lower than other IB hubs.
How long did it take for you to get a confirmed interview time? HR sent an email to me a week ago to mark my availability for a first-round and I have not heard anything yet
Heard back the next day. I heard I was rejected the following weekend too (bombed interview). I would reach out to their HR.
Nothing wrong with living there. Actually the downtown is somewhat revitalized, certainly to what it was a decade ago. Lots of UMich grads.
Very nice area - Birmingham / Bloomfield is a very wealthy area... tons of old money.
COL is low. As some have stated, downtown Detroit is quite revitalized thanks to Dan Gilbert.
Royal Oak is another dope spot where all the young people live and IMO the best spot to go out at... its right next to Birmingham.
The Founder or Quarton is a very nice guy but can’t speak to the rest of the partners.
I think Cowen has several other branches too - NY, SF. Did you preference Detroit or was it random?
Mostly focused on MM industrial and business services deals. Almost all sell side M&A.
Anyone going through the recruitment process with the SF office?
I know a summer analyst who accepted in San Francisco over a month ago, I would imagine recruiting is done for them.
