Crafting M&A Presentations

Hi,

This question is more for people who have had experience in the industry, but anyone else free to add your thoughts or opinions. I am currently a summer analyst who's been helping out with a few pitches and came to my mind about how these presentations are structured, created, and presented. Obviously I am not creating the  pitch, but I was wondering if I were to create and propose an M&A pitch, what is the most important thing to keep in mind? There is so much content you can squeeze into one presentation, so I think that every slide on there should be relevant and connect back to the purpose of the transaction (clearly this is not the case all the time), but is there a certain structure that is helpful to keep in mind? I realized that it's really hard to go in with a structure and tell a story in chronological order if you don't have a clear idea of the company (business model, the market, customers, and etc)... so how do you efficiently create a convincing presentation when you are constantly working on pitches for multiple companies, are time-crunched and have so much content to choose from? Are there certain structures that exist? Or does all of this shit not matter because the clients don't end up looking at them?

I am clearly new to all of this and am most of the time aligning shit, so I don't get to think much about this and this may sound like a naive question, but if anyone can provide insight, that would be great!
