I believe Sponsors and LevFin are top dogs there
.
How are tech, healthcare and m&a?
Tech is the best industry group (excl sponsors who is sort of a product group depending how you look at it) but a lottt of seniors left so that’s definitely in question now. M&A solid and sought after because it’s bulge bracket M&A but sponsors is best group overall. M&A and Lev fin are both good (Lev fin at CS is a bigger brand than CS M&A) so depends what you’re into.
Are most of the seniors that left from the SF or NY office?
Sponsors is considered the top group at the firm and one of the top groups on the street in general
How's regal and fig
Real estate does mostly gaming and lodging (less so REITs). Had a record year in 2021 (I think) and have been managing some solid clients (draft kings, etc.) Great culture, good (not great) exits, smaller and more niche group obviously.
Most exits will be into real estate.
interested in FIG as well
Have a few buddies in FIG there who absolutely love it. If what they say is true culture is really as good as you’ll get at a BB. Deal flow is decent and had a record year in 2020 and 2021. Lost some MDs but have mostly restocked it sounds like. Seems like you can definitely do a lot worse at CS and just generally

How’s healthcare?
HC in NYC used to be really good before Covid ... however, a lot of core personnel quit during the pandemic (both senior and mid-level).
Honestly, given the present (depressing) state of CS, it's more about avoiding some of the pitfalls / pigeon holes (FIG, RE ...) than about top group reputation.
The exception is still LevFin, although I don't think PE placement there is as stellar as it used to be.
All product groups are strong. In terms of coverage, industrials is the major fee generator. TBD if that continues after all the recent exits
