Culture and Reputation of FT Partners in 2019?

Old threads say this place was a complete sweatshop with terrible exits to buyout shops a couple years back. I was browsing linkedin the other day and saw that the incoming analysts all seem pretty legit (i.e., Stanford, USC, Dartmouth, interned at Moelis, GS, etc.). Anyone know why these guys are opting for this shop of all places?
