D1 Hockey... thoughts?

Hi guys.

I am a junior at St. Lawrence University, have a 3.5 GPA and am here on a hockey scholarship. Although hockey's been very good to me, I've decided to hang up my stakes after I graduate.

I have been seriously considering banking, but am worried that my GPA and school may work against me. I also lack experience, lol: because we train year round, I haven't been able to do any internships.

Given what I've said, do I have a chance next year or am I royally screwed?

We've play against Harvard, Yale and Princeton. I've personally duked it out against two guys from Harvard and one guy from Yale. No offense to Cornell, but it's so wanna-be ivy. (at least, from my experience.) Their players talk so much trash about how TTT St. Lawrence is, it's not even funny. Dartmouth's awesome. In hindsight, I totally wish I went there. Very, very laid back, and the fans are absolutely insane. (probably because they have nothing better to do) Girls are very hot, btw.

Princeton's jerseys are ugly. That, and it needs to grow some balls.

If you Hockey punks think you're so tough, put on some boxing gloves or MMA gloves and come duke it out with real fighters.

Other than that, have fun playing "Canada's" favorite sport.

my record is 1-12.

Speaking of MMA, I did it for about two years (through a school club)and recently quit. You need a high threshold for pain. More generally, it's just a really difficult sport to master. I couldn't take it.

I have the utmost respect for those figthers, though.

I would say you need to interview or get your resume seen by a college hockey fan. I myself played in HS, club in college, and am a hockey fan(went to BU) and would certainly rather talk about puckfucks and Slapshot than finance. A 3.5 is sellable IF they have a reason to go to bat for you. But im no interviewer.

thanks for the insight, djia5000. Although I've played hockey throughout my university career, I don't want to get by solely on this. I've taken finance courses, looked over vault material and...most importantly.. lurked this board for a while : ). In terms of competence, I think I can hold my own against other interviewees. We'll see, though.

You play hockey? That's a surprise. I am Canadian and don't know too many Americans (assuming you are american) who play hockey.

The Might Ducks has to rank up there with the all time greats, like The Godfather and Rocky.

and yes, I am dead serious.

I dont know why so many of you douchebags talk down upon cornell. someone coming from st. lawrence university shouldnt make even the slightest comment about an ivy league school like cornell. i dont care if your a big time hockey player and all that. youre a joke if youre actually going to sit there and blast cornell when u go to fucking st. lawrence.

I think the hemeriod on my uncle wilbur's ass could get into st. lawrence.

Cornell's wanna-be ivy. What's so offensive about that?

In any case, I won't deny that St. Lawrence is shitty. It is. Our school hands out scholarships like there's no tomorrow. I could've enrolled in grade 6.
