DCM BAML/Citi

Hi - my roommate at school has an offer with a DCM team at BAML/Citi and we’re having a discussion about the role, interested in hearing everyone’s thoughts. The team works with PubFin and is kind of a hybrid between DCM and PubFin IB but leans more toward DCM is how he describes it.

We’re talking about the role from a 1st year analyst role, and trying to figure out how the role would sit as a starting point. On one hand, great seat in terms of learning and excitement (markets), on the other hand, could be pigeonholed in PubFin. Wondering if anyone knows exit ops to Corp IB (LevFin or industry) or to a Muni trading seat? Assuming muni trading would be natural, but could they switch into a Corp IB job after 2 years (even if they start over as A1). I would argue yes, as even though the asset classes are quite different, the deal “process” and DCM style work would be a solid training ground for Corp IB. Would be excellent to hear people’s thoughts on this.
