Deals Picking Up?
Have deals started to pick up yet? Heard everyone was expecting a rebound in Q3 but that doesn't seem like it materialized. Are things still dead deal flow wise?

Curious to know as well. Senior MDs on CNBC and BBG keep saying teams are busy, dialogue with clients has intensified, etc. but still no pick up in activity
Feels like things are brewing but no material increase in activity of late
As soon as companies start getting FY23A together, you'll see a sizeable pickup in volume.
No one is going to go to market having TTMOct23 in January when they could push back a month and have FY23A in February.
My group is dealing with this for a few of our sell-sides. Just waiting on FY23A to be finalized and then it's off to the races.
Im an analyst in PC so never had pure m&a experience but I find it tough to believe that the timing of finalized audited financials would affect m&a deal flow at all
Is that because Q4'23 was much better?
At a boutique, have heard there’s more deal activity than Q1’23
I've been on 6 deals since November, just rolled one off and added another. M&A at a regional Bank. All my deals are
$50-$300 EV. Hours aren't bad (double staff analysts and good culture).
Double staff?
Means there are 2 analysts on a deal
Not going to see a meaningful uptick in deal flow until interest rates go down... it's as simple as that. You can start as many processes as you want in this environment, but a good amount will get paused due to bids "not meeting seller expectations".
Its hard to say, my group is working on a ton of stuff but hard to tell what is legit vs chasing low probability deals and MDs trying to justify existence.
