Degenerate

So I attended college several years ago for 3 semesters and did terrible. Think less than a 2.0 GPA. I know what you thinking, this old fart has no chance. Maybe, but i'm not old. Under 30. Anyway, fast forward to today, I work in the Real Estate Industry on the financial side and have registered to go back to school. I'm starting back with some college credits. I have to attend a community college then transfer back to my original non-target school. My question has to do with internships. After a few semesters at community college to get my GPA up, I'll be a sophomore. I can't apply to summer sophomore Internships with a pitiful GPA currently. Networking and off-cycle recruiting will be my friend but what advice would you give if I wanted to highlight experience despite having a shortened timeline? Am I putting too much pressure on early recruiting?
