Difference in Associate pay?

I'm sure it's been discussed to death already, but is there a difference in the salary, bonus, or combination of both between a first year Associate out of MBA vs. someone who worked for a few years as an Analyst with the company and got promoted? Or does it really depend on the firm/person?

honestly, that was a topic like 3 days ago. how about a quick screening of the recent topics before posting something that as you knew yourself has been discussed to death in the past.

What I'm about to say applies to S&T, but it may help you just a bit:

When the desk hires associates from an MBA program we'll give them the exact same base salary as a 2nd year analyst being promoted.

HOWEVER, the bonus paid out may vary substantially because if the promoted analyst was given control of part of a book (e.g. G-10 vanilla FX Options), then they have the opportunity to take on risk that a green associate with no trading experience simply will not. Bonus payouts will reflect this reality.

So yes, in situations like this, there is the opportunity to earn more as an associate promoted from the analyst program, than one would as an MBA hire.
