Do I have a chance for 2019 ib?

Hello Wall Street Oasis,' I am a current Senior at Rutgers with a 3.1 cumulative and a 3.4 major (Finance). I used to be a premed that's why my gpa is not at all great. I also have two internships including a wealth management internship and I worked in a startup corporate finance internship which gave me a lot of legitimate deal exposure. This year I made sure to take courses that will teach me everything I need to know about my technicals. I want to break into banking for 2019 as I may stay in the startup this summer. What should I do? Really appreciate the help guys!

Even if you have a top GPA at a top 15 school and connections, you still have an uphill climb to break in. There's thousands upon thousands of people who, on paper, look like more promising candidates than you. I for one know I'm not at the front of the line.

By no means is anything a foregone conclusion. You absolutely can make things happen for yourself. At the same time, it's important to recognize that the odds are long - for that reason you need to assert yourself very very actively.

Way to ignore the question brah. To answer that dudes actual question, connections trump GPA 10/10 no exceptions. If your dads friend is a client of an MD you get smooth sailing to super day, but you have to earn your spot at the super day like everyone else

Fuckin my way thru nyc one chick at a time

Really depends on the connection. If it's a top MD at the firm and you guys live next door to each other, you probably have a good shot. But if it's your analyst buddy that was your college roommate, then at most they will get you a phone screen and you are on your own from there. In general though, everyone interviewing at BBs will have some sort of connect, and usually above 3.5 GPA.
