Do Uk IB’s prefer Mathematics or Economics degrees?

I know that the more important factor is doing well etc but ceterus paribus, say for an M&A or restructuring or capital markets role which one wins.

Answers relating to PE also appreciated.

Nobody really cares. Personally if I could choose again I'd go for maths because you can recruit for quant roles as well. In fact I would argue these days econ is a net negative since firms try and diversify degree backgrounds

There aren't that many econ graduates anyway, a lot of people coming in now are business and finance students...

I mean not really because majority of targets don't offer business or finance degrees. But either way firms treat that as the same thing, and would slightly prefer someone coming from a diverse degree background e.g. chemistry vs another econ/finance drone

What about A+F at the targets. Always debated how this degree is perceived in comparison to econ?

Probably not as great despite the course offering more in relation to IB
