A friend has gotten emails from an EB and top BB saying he's been referred. Do you always get notified or is that not common at all? Just want to know if my networking is shit even though I've been getting positive feedback.

I referred someone years ago and had to fill out a form stating why I recommended him and what his strengths are. Unsure if this is common for all places
Not common but some companies let their candidates know if they have been referred via their system.
Depends on the bank. I know of a few that sent an email notifying me I was referred, but that isn't the norm. Usually, once you land an interview, you'll be able to piece together who referred you based on how well your networking went with them.
Some do some don’t. I was referred at an EB and got an email.
