Does anyone happen to know which internships in NYC are actually happening in the office?
Despite being the epicenter of the virus as well as the quarantine being pushed until May 15th it seems as if some internships, mainly those by small and mid sized ones, are still being carried out in person. Does anyone happen to know which industries that these internships are in? Media, general business, science/health, research, etc...? Does anyone know any companies that are doing this? Constantly see a good chunk people in sublet groups on Facebook trying to sublet a room for the entire summer and they have stated that their internships are still on. Are they doing this with the hope that they can get a cheap deal and hopefully be able to live "normally" if the quarantine restrictions were to start getting eased in say mid or late June?

I don't think any internships will happen in NYC. It's basically a war zone right now. The lockdown ends May 15 but the city won't be back to normal on May 16... I don't see companies flying interns in two weeks later.
Some internships are just not going to happen virtually (research or smaller companies that can't set up a whole virtual internship) and they're waiting for more information to cancel. I hope these kids aren't paying upfront for apartments they might get stuck with

I guess even though they're searching for apartments doesn't mean that their internship will still be on come next month. it's also possible that some people probably want to be on the east coast even though their internship is virtual to not have to deal with the time difference but also the possibility of enjoying the city , hopefully, come July or August
No internships will be in person for nyc this summer.
Some people have already confirmed that their firms are still doing in person internships. They're smaller firms with at most 5 interns that are betting on stuff being fine in 2 months. With thousands of internship programs going on there definitely will be a decent chunk of people there.
