Does coverage or ECM go on roadshows? Or are most roadshows virtual?

Hi all,

I recently decided between an ECM offer and a coverage role offer that does a decent amount of IPOs. I was just wondering- do the ECM junior bankers or coverage bankers get to do the cool stuff and go on roadshows? Or are roadshows done virtually? Do junior bankers even go on roadshows? I'd appreciate any advice you could offer! Thank you so much!

I haven't been to an in-person IPO roadshow since 2020. Pre-covid, there was typically a coverage analyst that followed management around for the entire roadshow. I don't think in-person roadshows will ever return, which is unfortunate because going to the group investor lunches at the hotels was part of the 'experience'.

The ECM team shows up to the group management presentation when the roadshow is in the city the team is located in (typically NYC). Never saw them travel with management on the road.
