Does major difficulty matter?
I'm a rising sophomore at a Canadian target planning on getting into IB, and have to choose between a more difficult and math-heavy honours and a regular finance major. Assuming I'm able to get the same GPA in both, do recruiters factor in a tougher courseload, or is GPA all that matters at the end of the day?
Usually, yes. If you are majoring in something like engineering, physics, stats, etc then having a higher GPA will be more meaningful than if you are majoring in English for example. It also shows that you are able to handle the quantitative aspect of IB (even though in my opinion it's pretty easy to grasp).
But in this case, I'd be "honouring" in economics and finance, which isn't as technical as physics, engineering or math, whilst being more quantitative than just finance. Would just the economics component still make it more impressive?
