Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's a breakdown of associate compensation at elite boutiques (EBs) like EVR, CVP, PJT, LAZ, and MOE:
Base Salary:
EBs generally start associates at $160k, with increases to $180k in the second year and $200k in the third year. This progression is consistent across most EBs.
Bonuses:
Bonuses at EBs are significantly higher than those at bulge brackets (BBs). For first-year associates, the bonus differential can be around $65k, increasing to ~$90k for second years and ~$120k for third years. This gap widens further at VP and MD levels.
All-In Compensation:
First-year associates at EBs can expect all-in comp to be approximately $260k or more, depending on the firm and performance bucket. CVP tends to pay slightly more, while LAZ is known to pay less consistently—around $50k below the street at all associate levels.
Stock vs. Cash Mix:
Some EBs, like PJT and EVR, offer a mix of cash and stock bonuses, which can vary by firm and performance tier.
Key Differentiators:
CVP is often highlighted for its higher compensation, while LAZ is noted for being on the lower end. MOE, EVR, and PWP generally align closely in terms of pay, with slight variations depending on the office and performance.
If you're considering moving from a top BB to an EB, the compensation increase is substantial, with EBs offering a 25%-35% premium over BBs at the associate level. However, consider other factors like culture, work-life balance, and long-term career goals when making your decision.
Not just top EBs but any M&A bank who has a nationwide or international presence (think EVR, MOE, LAZ, PWP, CVP, PJT, JEFF, GUGG, Raine, Roth, FT, Liontree, WB, etc) would nowadays pay 100-120% for mid bucket (higher if group performance is extraordinary) and 120-150% for top bucket associates. For analysts, believe street average for boutiques is 110-120%, usually not bucketed (except ofc for low performers who will be shown the door)
Was at EVR/LAZ/MOE until fairly recently in a top-performing group. All-in for asso1 was $425–450k (source: me and the guy who sat next to me). Neither of us were top bucket

At an EB and definitely don't get 110% as an analyst - curious to hear if that's actually street
Have good buddies at 2 in NYC & SF. More like 80/95 for AN2 Mid/Top, respectively.
At EB in mid group and can confirm this is not true
Commented on one of the comp threads, but am at one of the above mentioned banks and received $500k all-in (comes to 150% bonus) as an ASO2.
This was true for me. Was just under $500K as ASO2. Think my ANL3 year was $285K but can’t really remember. So seems spot on.

In another thread I said at some places ASO1s made 500k. You two weren’t top buck and made 450k, ….so you that means top bucket made?
I don’t know why people on this site are so skeptical or mad about EB pay bro.

My friend is an AS1 at PWP cleared $400K. Mid bucket.
Are you trolling or is this true?
that's pretty standard for EBs... can confirm same comp last year at EVR for AS1 (mid)
