Economic Research Intern -> IB
I'm a sophomore in college majoring in Econ and Math looking for internships this summer. I did a PWM internship last summer at the branch BB in my hometown. I'm at a HYP with a good GPA (3.9+). This summer, I am interested in economic research (either at my school or local FED) or economic policy (at a think tank in DC) but am concerned that not doing something in pure finance will hurt my chances for junior IB recruiting. Is it very common to intern in something like this and then do IB? How much will it matter going this route vs. a middle-market finance internship? Any help would be really appreciated
